Transportation |
|
| |
Blair Senior Services, Inc. is committed to increasing the mobility, independence and quality of life for Blair County’s Older Residents and Persons with Disabilities. The Agency’s Shared-Ride System is designed to provide service in a safe, effective and cost-efficient manner. During the past twenty years, the Agency has provided 3 million passenger trips to thousands of County residents. Drivers provide door-to-door assistance utilizing vehicles that are accessible to a variety of mobility devices.
The majority of funding for transportation is received through per-trip reimbursement through the PA Lottery Program; however, numerous other sources are necessary to not only offset operating costs but also maintain an affordable cost for passengers. These alternative programs complement the Agency’s Mission of serving Older Residents by sustaining the financial stability of the Shared-Ride System.
Shared-Ride transportation is but a part of a comprehensive transportation delivery system that exists within Blair County. The Agency strongly supports and partners with both public and local private providers of transportation. The Agency actively participates in mobility forums at both local and state levels.
Blair Senior Services, Inc. is appreciative of the ongoing support and commitment received from the Blair County Commissioners through their oversight responsibility for the Shared-Ride System. |
