  Shared Ride

This program enables older residents 65 years of age and older to use shared-ride, demand-responsive services and to pay only a small percentage of the regular shared-ride fare.  State Lottery proceeds administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation are used to reimburse the Agency up to 85% of the fare.  Passengers over 65 years of age and/or Blair Senior Services pay the 15% fare balance.  Regulations require the service to be open to the general public, and a fare charged to all riders. Passengers must reserve their trip at least one day in advance, and must be willing to share the vehicle with other riders.

In cooperation with and under the authorization of the Blair County Commissioners, Blair Senior Services provides Shared-Ride Transportation throughout the entire Blair County area.  Residents of any age may access this service at full fare.  Several programs are available that sponsor a portion or all of the fare for eligible residents under 65 years of age.

During the past year, Blair Senior Services provided over 175,000 one-way trips to local residents, enabling them to increase their mobility and maintain their independence.
